Ever since her people had joined the galactic community, Gukka knew that her people had always believed in the fact that the spirit of galactic law was Benevolence, justice and understanding. They had believed that every race shared their view, and that those that would lie were barbarians and other species shunned by galactic society.
In her hunt for Francis Drake, she had learnt much about the harsh reality of things. She had learnt that the senate had twisted the facts on Humanity. She had learnt that although most of them were true, they only applied to the darkest of Human individuals. She had learnt that the Alliance wasn’t what they were portrayed as. They weren’t barbarians slavering for the wealth of the galactic senate species, but a group of species driven together by a common foe – the senate.
Not by the greed of the alliance, but by the greed of the Senate.
The Humans had been attacked after slaving attempts had failed, the Demiossians had been hunted for their precious technology, and the Dwillians had been freed from slavery by the other two members.
She had learnt that even though Humans were fierce warriors, they often performed acts of generosity and altruism never expected of a stranger. Never before had she seen an alien risk his life for another, with no obligation to do so, and no stake to gain beyond spiritual gratification.
The criminal she had chased half way across the galaxy had in the end become the one to save her life from a far greater evil.
And she had learnt that the people that had accused him of Murder and theft had been slavers, dictators and monsters in their own right.
Her chase had ended on that nameless human space station, and she had returned to her people to tell of her findings.
And in the end, the Ysir defected from the Senate in favor of the Alliance.
For even though they found the Humans fractured and imperfect, they saw in them a far lesser evil.
Gukka inadvertedly brought about another change. With her she had brought some human culture in the form of art and music, which sprung forth throughout Ysir space akin to a wildfire.
For they found that no creature could bare their soul,
quite like a human.
And when it came to the Ood, their solar system was annexed by the Alliance, their lost people returned, and their civilization left in peace.
And soon there was a push among their scientists to advance their technology, so that they could join the benevolent ones among the stars.
