I grinned as my forces marched into the Human capital of the planet. They were beat. Surrounded by sea and fire as my forces marched in with steel-toed boots.
Once their capital fell, the human lines would falter, and this region of the planet would be ours.
I was Khal’Xethin, grand marshal of the Hyelin forces, and none would stand before me.
Once the Humans had been squashed, the rest of the planet would fall to me. None of the other pitiful claimants would be able to stand before me once I had the resource-rich human territories.
Plasma fire streaked through the air. The humans were putting up a noble fight, indeed, but we were many times their number.
As my drones were cut down in even greater numbers, I didn’t care. They were eternally replaceable, and there was no one to miss them.
Soon the capital was nothing but ash and ruin, and I was victorious. Many hundreds had fallen, and the ground was littered with corpses.
But I was victorious.
Then all my alarms flared red.
What was going on?!
Seconds later, the sound I had believed would never come to pass sounded through my systems.
Missile launch detected.
My jaw grew slack as my armies were consumed in nuclear fire, all resources I could have claimed were lost in that instant.
Everything I had sacrificed so much to gain was lost.
Then, a single communication was received.
”If we can’t have it, no one will.” – T
I growled.
My victory had grown sour.
My mighty armies lost, I had nothing to stop the other claimants from burning down my cities.
I had lost. It was a matter of time now, but I had lost.
“God damn it Ted! Why did you do that?! I beat you fairly!”
My human opponent, my friend, looked up at me with a savage grin, lit from below by his screen.
“You beat me, yeah, but now you can’t win either. I call that revenge.”
Minutes later, my prediction came true. My opponents squashed the pitiful defenses I could summon to face them, and I was eliminated.
With a angry roar, I threw aside my mouse.
The human was just smiling at me.
“What?! You lost before me.”
He chuckles.
“Yeah, but I lost knowing that the person beating me would lose as well. Worth it if you ask me.”
God damnit.
Note to self: be careful when playing computer games with Humans.
